I want to invite you to join us online this Thursday evening—December 24th at 5:00 pm—for our Virtual Christmas Eve service. The service will be premiered on both Facebook and YouTube. We have spent the last couple of weeks capturing video of many of you guys so you might want to watch to see if you make the final cut! One of the highlights of the service will be getting to see the Christmas Story through the eyes of some of our children here at Temple Rogers. Again, it is helpful to consider the “Age-Old” story from different perspectives from time to time. That is exactly what I would like to do today—I would like to consider the role of the shepherds in this narrative. Who were they? What did they do? How do they contribute to the overall story? Why were they included?
John 16:4b-16 People will often admit to failures, vices and crimes; but it takes the mighty work of the Holy Spirit to convince and convict people of their sinfulness.
John 14:1-11 The fear of the unknown can be crippling if we do not put our faith in God.
The idea of being alone is a hard one to deal with. It is something that some of you have had to learn to deal with. In this message, we will look at the ways in which we can overcome the fear of being alone.
Overcoming the fear of uncertainty can be accomplished by keeping our focus on the eternal. When we keep an eternal perspective on life, we are more readily able to see God’s plans for our lives. God’s plan for our lives almost always involve trials, tribulations, challenges and difficulties; but if Jesus is IN us, we have nothing to fear for He is renewing our spirits day by day.
When you place your trust in Jesus Christ—His death on the cross and resurrection from the grave—there is no need to fear death!
It does not matter what I’ve done… Jesus died in my place to pay for my sins—I must simply trust in Him!
We can face life with confidence, because “God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” (2 Timothy 1:7)
In Daniel 5, we are introduced to a new king. Nebuchadnezzar has died and now a new king is ruling over the Babylonian Empire. “King Nebuchadnezzar died on October 7, 562 BC. After three other men had rulled and passed from the scene, Nabonidus became king of Babylon in 556 BC. Nabonidus…
In Daniel 4, we find Nebuchadnezzar’s second dream and his third encounter with Jehovah God. The timeframe for this event is not written explicitly in the text, but the events described here in chapter four describe a time toward the end of Nebuchadnezzar’s reign. Stephen Miller notes…
