As we embark on this journey through the “One Another” Commands in the New Testament, I want us to not lose sight of the prevailing goal of this series —we want to Unite People to One Another. In order to make that happen, we must learn how to get along with one another. The first…
Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary? These are all crucial questions that we must ask ourselves before we hit send! In this final message of the series, we are going to consider the last crucial question—“Is it clear?” Dr. Eggerichs writes, “We need to be clear in our own minds as to where we are headed in what we are saying; otherwise, those on the receiving end will be more confused. As pastors, we say, ‘If there is a mist in the pulpit, there’s a fog in the pew.’”
Some may seek for spectacular signs and wonders, others may claim great miracles and manifestations of God’s power, but God speaks to each of us today through His Word. We need no priest, no prophet, no holy man, we have His holy Word. Are we listening to what He has to say to us today?
Realize that God will pursue you. Recognize that you are helpless without Him. Refocus upon god and godly things. Rely upon God to rescue you from despair. Remember the Lord with prayer and thanksgiving. Respond in obedience when God directs you.
The situation facing the church in Jerusalem was seemingly hopeless. King Herod had just executed the Apostle James, and Peter was in prison awaiting execution as well. The church was praying for his release, but they really didn’t think it would do any good. How would they continue without Peter and James? Is there really power in the prayers that we pray? Can we really trust that God hears us and acts upon our prayers?
Part 2 – In this week’s message, we continue to learn more about Philip and how God used him as a witness of the gospel. Last time, we saw how God used him to transform a large group of people in Samaria, but this time God has a different kind of assignment for Philip. So what was God’s big new plan for Philip? How would God use His transforming touch next? God sent him down to Gaza—which the Bible refers to as a deserted place. To go from a growing church to a place where no one even lives—I would have struggled to understand what God was thinking if I were Philip. We cannot know what Philip was thinking, but we do know what Philip did. Let’s read this story to find out!
In prayer, we must focus on: Receiving God’s Word as truth; Believing God’s Word; Exhibiting unity among believers; Remaining faithful to God; Being protected from the devil; Being sanctified by the Word; Being sent into the world.
In John 17, Jesus prayed for…Himself, Followers of Christ and Future Christ Followers
John 16:16-33, Do you have confusion about the future? Sorrow will change into Joy. Prayer is a specific example of the change.
A person’s ability to listen to correction is an indicator of his spiritual maturity. The immature think they are ‘never wrong.’
