We will begin our study today when Jesus gathered His disciples together in the upper room of a home in Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover Seder meal. This was the time when Jesus instituted the Lord’s Supper, which we observed as a church body last Sunday evening. During this meal, Jesus shared some important teachings with His disciples—things that they would need to know once Jesus was gone (John 13 – 16). When they had finished, they left Jerusalem, went across the Kidron Valley, and up on the Mount of Olives. On the Mount of Olives, Jesus lifted up His voice in prayer to His Father. Knowing all that was about to happen, He prayed for strength to fulfill His Father’s will (John 17). It was also on this mountain where Judas led the vigilante mob to arrest Jesus to be taken away and crucified. This is where we will begin our study today—focusing on some of the events from John 18, 19 and 20. Like last week, we will be specifically focusing in on the events which point to Him as King—a King like no other!
